Benefits of Online Learning

Online mediation courses offer you a host of advantages, especially if you are trying to balance the demands of work, family, and other commitments. Here's why choosing an online mediation course might be the ideal option for you:

Study at Your Own Pace and Fit Learning Around Existing Commitments: Our online mediation courses provide you with the flexibility to study at times that suit you. You can fit your education conveniently into your busy life. Whether you prefer studying early in the morning, late in the evening or at intervals throughout your day, learning with us means that you can study when it’s most convenient for you.
Save Time and Money on Commuting: With online learning, you can easily schedule your studies into your daily routine without the need to spend hours commuting to a campus or physical location. You'll not only save time but also you'll reduce the expenses often associated with travel which can add up over time. In short, making your education more affordable and accessible.

Comprehensive Curriculum Designed by Experts

Our online mediation courses have been thoughtfully designed by experienced mediators and experts in online learning design to ensure that you meet all learning outcomes. The curriculum is shaped to provide you with both the requisite mediation theory alongside the core principles and essential mediation skills. When you take any of our online mediation courses you will gain a far deeper understanding of the mediation process than any other training course.

  • Courses Crafted by Industry Experts and Successful Mediators: The online course content is developed by professionals with extensive experience in mediation as well a deep understanding of how adults learn online. Not only will you gain knowledge and skills from the most respected international mediators, you will also study in an engaging and immersive way which will make your online learning experience fun and rewarding.
  • Overview of What You Will Typically Learn:
    • Theories of Conflict and Dispute Resolution: Gain this foundational knowledge and a clearer understanding of what people in conflict situations or commercial disputants need from their advisors and the mediator.
    • Conflict Resolution Techniques: Learn effective strategies to navigate the challenging and often difficult situations that most mediators encounter. One of the additional benefits to studying mediation online is that you'll be learning many transferable skills that apply to a whole number of different contexts.
    • Mediation Strategies: There are many tools, techniques and strategies that you'll learn in order to assist parties to reach a resolution, these range from how to open a mediation, how to manage the plenary session, how to navigate the private sessions and what to do when parties get stuck in the negotiation phase. There are strategies to help you overcome every hurdle and ensure the parties make progress in the mediation.
    • How to Sell Mediation: As a mediator you are also an advocate of the process and part of your role is to encourage and persuade the parties to give mediation a try. Often parties get stuck during the negotiation phase, they reach an impasse and decide they've had enough. Whilst it's not your responsibility to keep parties together when they've chosen to leave you can use your knowledge of the benefits of mediation to encourage parties to give it one last try - or even to try mediation for the first time. Parties decide for themselves whether to attend but you can play an important role in getting them to the table and helping them across the line.

Practical Skills and Real-World Applications

One of the key benefits of our mediation courses is that we very much focus on the development of practical skills that can be directly applied to real-world conflict situations.

Insights into Practical Skills Gained: You'll learn critical mediation skills, such as active listening, summarising, reframing, negotiation, and joint problem-solving. These are essential for mediators to facilitate dialogue and guide parties towards collaborative outcomes.
Real-Life Applications and Success Stories to Build Credibility: Through case studies and real-life examples, you’ll see how mediation skills are used effectively in various contexts. Our courses contain cinema-quality dispute simulations that give you a unique insight into how the mediator works with the parties from beginning to end. Success stories from our alumni highlight the practical impact and effectiveness of our training courses.

Testimonials from Past Students

"I attended Mediator Academy's first Summer School and highly recommend it.
Before arriving I worked my way through their comprehensive and high-quality on-line training which skilfully mixes text, simulated sessions, interviews and interactive exercises. It meant that all participants arrived with a good sense of what mediation is, regardless of their experience.
The 5 days with Aled & Sabine - in a stunning venue overlooking Tower Bridge was also excellent. As trainers they are professional and energetic: suitably exacting of us students but eager to share their extensive experience mediating a wide variety of disputes. We worked hard but enjoyed ourselves and learnt a huge amount."

"I needed a new approach to address workplace conflict and reduce the number of formal grievances in our business. The course was thought-provoking, very practical and I could immediately apply it to real-life conflict scenarios.
The most rewarding aspect was witnessing the immediate impact on my professional life.
I highly recommend this course to fellow HR professionals - it was an important investment in my professional development that will yield long-lasting benefits for both myself and company."

"I wanted to learn mediation skills to complement my practice as an arbitrator. I was attracted to this course by the opportunity to learning in a small group. The course was interesting and thought provoking and the group was relaxed and supportive. The most useful element for me was conducting the face to face  role plays - great fun but also a brilliant learning opportunity. Aled and Sabine are excellent teachers - we covered a lot of ground without ever feeling rushed or superficial."

"The course is remarkable; it is effective both as a way of understanding the philosophy and psychology behind mediation, and in teaching the practical aspects and nuances of mediation practice. I had been involved in mediations (representing parties) for many years, mostly in either PI/Clinical Neg cases or commercial disputes. This course taught very quickly why non-evaluative mediation works, how to do it, and just as importantly how to do so with confidence. I would recommend it to anyone interested in mediation on precisely those bases."

- Charlie Cory-Wright KC
Barrister
Joint Head of 39 Essex Chambers

"I was hoping for a practical, skills-based training, and the course more than met my expectations. The course was thoughtfully designed, with excellent supporting written materials and did not shy away from tackling tricky issues. It was particularly beneficial to be trained by mediators with extensive real-world experience. They were also really supportive and excellent at providing constructive criticism that helped us improve and reach the required standard.."

"I've worked in litigation most of my professional life and I was looking for a career change. The course was seriously great. It gives you a practical insight into what you might expect in real life mediation. The course was engaging and was supplemented by theory and all backed up by top practitioners who know what they're talking about. I'd highly recommend this course."
